Because salvation is by grace and not good works. In any case, one could never know if one had done enough good works to earn heaven and then salvation would be somewhat uncertain. This would also lead to pride in one's own achievement which is itself a sin.

∙ 8y agoNo, good deeds cannot get you into heaven. The Bible clearly says that entrance to heaven is based Jesus' death as a satisfactory payment for your sin.

Good deeds, in the life of a believer/Christian, are a result of Christ working through the person.

∙ 8y agoIt would rather depend on the definition of what gets you into heaven supplied by your religion. One caveat, this assumes you have somehow determined what the "right" religion is. Belief in one specific belief system (following the Bible, believing in Jesus, doing good deeds, etc.) won't cary much weight if god turns out to be Allah or Odin.Then again if the atheists are contact no matter how much time you waste following the rules of your religion you simply disappear as a person when you dies.

∙ 8y agoNot the Christians heaven, and I don't know of any other. To go to heaven you need to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Good deeds will not get you there.
