It can - if very dry.
yes it helps alot becaue the dry grass is like a fuel to the fire to start up and it colud make the fire sprard.
All you have to do to start a fire on any of the virtual villagers is find the dry grass and the wood. After that you put a villager on the place where you see the dead grass/wood they will collect it and bring it to the fire place. Then after the grass and wood are collected put your villager on the fire place and the fire will start!

You have to take firewood and dry grass to the black firepit next to the hut * The firewood is located by the bee hive * the dry grass is located by the waterfall ( to the left of the lab) *drag a villager to both of them and they will take it to the firepit *after you have both dry grass and firewood there take a villager and drag it to the firepit and they will start the fire Hope this helps
Dry GRASs no water
There are a couple ways to start a fire. One way is to use lighter fluid and a match. Another is to use lighter fluid and a lighter. Another is to get dry grass and two flint rocks, and spark the two rocks until fire is made. Another is to rub to certain kinds of sticks together on a rock in dried grass to start a fire. Another way is to put gunpowder on the ground around dried, or dead, grass, and strike the pile of gunpowder, which will cause a small explosion of sparks, which creates a fire in the dried or dead grass.
Hot dry days
A wildfire can start in the desert because the suns heat is so hot it burns dry grass and starts fire the fire would not burn much cause there not much in a desert but yes they can start.
Grass when it is dry is quite flamable. If it is heated as in a wild fire then it will burn even if it is green. Today I have listened to four fire departments called out for different grass fires along the highway because people have thrown cigarettes out the window and caught the grass on fire.
A dull mower blade will "tear" the grass instead of "cut" it. The jagged blades of grass will dry up and cause your lawn to look brownish or even yellowish - much like when cut grass clippings turn from green to brown/yellow as they dry up.
The fire spread to each tree if they are dry and a little mossy.
