Not recommended, but yes many earphones will work but give very poor quality sound and probably not enough volume to be useful.
Most earphones contain a small coil of wire on a movable form around a small magnet. The current sent from the PC earphone socket through the coil causes vibrations which can be heard. Making a noise close to the earphone will cause the coil to vibrate and generate a small current which the microphone socket should be able to pick up.
Some microphone inputs will expect an electret condenser microphone and so will not work with a dynamic input.
Most Likely On the back it will be green and next to a pink microphone jack Hope This Helps
It likely that you plugged your headphones into the wrong jack. There should be a jack for your headphones on your computer that has the head-phones label on it, not the one with speakers or for a microphone.
Yes you can. Most computers use loud speakers to hear audio. But, if you don't want to disturb others (for instance) you could listen to audio using earphones. Any computer with a sound card should have a socket in which the earphone's jack can be plugged in.
Headsets which come with a microphone attached will normally come with two input jacks: a green jack and a cream-coloured jack. The green jack should be inserted into the corresponding jack input, as does the cream-coloured jack, which can be located on the back of the motherboard (if it is a Desktop computer) or on the side of the base (if it is a Laptop).

The Samson C01U is a USB microphone and cannot be used with the G12. It needs to be plugged into a computer. The Canon G12 does not have a microphone jack, so you'll need a separate audio recorder if you want to use an external microphone.
Only if the tuner has a built-in microphone, or if the acoustic guitar has a pickup which can be plugged into a tuner that only has an input jack instead of a microphone.
Not into the PlayStation 3 itself, but pretty much all TVs or sound systems would provide a jack for earphones to be plugged in.
Make sure it is plugged into the correct jack (if an analog microphone) and that it is not muted in the Volume control.
green headphone jack on the back of the computer
Very simply, get a sound card that has one, and installation software for it.
Most computers (whether a desk-top or lap-top machine) will have a 3.5mm jack socket for a microphone input.
