Belief & hope.Addendum:Ethics by itself can take you only so far. Without faith in something, ethics are a mute point. Ethics can't really exist without faith in something, be that thing divine or less so. Ethics is the study of good vs. evil at the most basic level. The two concepts mean nothing unless juxtaposed. Therefore, one must stand on one side of the fence or other, and some sort of belief or acceptance of that side must be the rule against which everything is measured.
