The answer depends on what kind of fake gold

  • If it is a metal alloy, which it usually is, it will conduct quite well.
  • If it is a sheet of gold coloured plastic it won't conduct.
  • If it is iron sulfide (aka pyrite) it is a semi-conductor with resistivity similar to silicon. Iron sulfide is often called "fool's gold", but not usually fake gold.
