Best Answer

They can in small amounts, but it is not recommended. Orange juice has a high glucose (sugar) content, and plenty of carbohydrates. A ferret's digestive system can't metabolize large quantities of sugars or carbohydrates, and can lead to illness related to the pancreas.

My ferret has licked a few drops of powerade left over in the bottle or gotten the last drop of peach juice left in the glass when I looked away for a second, that's no big deal but it's better to avoid this because it is not good for them.

Why would bunnies drink Orange Juice but they can

Orange juice isn't poisonous for rabbits, but it isn't healthy either. Orange juice is high in sugars, and too much sugar will make a rabbit sick. A bite of orange is okay as a treat, but generally speaking, rabbits shouldn't drink any juice at all, because juice is higher in sugar than fresh fruit. A healthy rabbit diet is lots and lots of hay, with some pellets daily, and some fresh dark leafy greens. Non-leafy veggies and fruits should be limited as treats -- no more than 2 tablespoons per day for a normal, healthy 6 pound rabbit. See the related question below for more info about the rabbit diet.
