You can try a salt bath. Put a little salt in a bucket with water from the same tank (for heat purposes), in the past I have used a tablespoon per gallon. Put the goldfish in the bucket for about 15-30 minutes depending on the size of your fish, he should be fine in this amount of time but watch him anyway. After take him out and put him in a bucket of plain tank water for about 5 minutes. The reason for this is the salt bath stresses him out and he lets out a chemical (not a 100% sure if it is a chemical or skin) that can foul your regular water. When you see his breathing go back to normal you can put him back into the tank.
Also use marine or aquarium salt, not table salt. Table salt contains iodine which is bad for fish.
I have 6 goldfish varying from 1-5 years
Probably "ick". It needs to be treated.
I used to have fish and I think that's called Ich (pronounced ick). It can be treated with a medication available at the pet store.
There are diseases such as ich (white spots) which can be treated with salt. They can get to your pet goldfish easily and expert websites will have answers.
they might get the "ICK" or they can get sick from there bowl or tank not being clean
Yes, turtles can get ick, which is a common parasitic disease. To prevent it, maintain clean water in their habitat and ensure proper filtration. If a turtle does get ick, it can be treated with medication prescribed by a veterinarian specializing in reptiles.
The white stuff on goldfish is most likely a fungal infection called cotton wool disease. It can be treated by using antifungal medications or salt baths. To prevent it, maintain good water quality, avoid overcrowding, and provide a balanced diet for your goldfish.
Visible tiny white spots anywhere on the fishes body are indicators of white spot. (Ich)They can often be seen scratching themselves against the gravel and other things in the tank. During spring however, the males develop white spots on their gills and pectoral fins so don't mistake them for disease.
It depend's on how the goldfish is being treated.
Go to a pet shop and get the medication for it.If you have any other fish in your tank/bowl take them out because it will spread. It is an infection. My goldfish died from "ick" so you'd better hurry to get the medication.
If your goldfish has Ick you will need to treat its water with some commercial cure. Just follow the directions. Before you do the treatment though, may I suggest you do a large water change, keep the filter ON all through the treatment and follow the instructions to the letter. Ick/Ich/white spot is a killer parasite and has to be fixed quickly before it kills every fish in the tank.
Yes, ick is highly contagious. Fish get it when they are stressed out, depressed, and/or weak. Ick is believed to be in water already. It spreads very quickly from one fish to another and you have to treat it right away. To treat ick, take the infected fish to a vet or use a home remedy such as salt or heat.
If they are little white bumps just on the gills, then you have a male goldfish that is ready to breed. If the white dots cover its body then your fish is sick with ick, and you will need to go to the petstore to get meds. for the fish.
