Yes hermit crabs are good pets. I love my hermit crabs and they come from Australia! I've had them for a long time now, and I haven't once regretted getting them!
They really enjoy walking and climbing around in the dark. They also love eating a variety of foods to keep them active so they can walk around in their cage.
Another great thing is they help people learn responsibility and if your child is a child who is really responsible then you should get him or her one, for fun, even though they are already responsible. They only pinch if you shake them, drop them, or scare them.
And they will eat anything you give them but only give them dairy foods once and a while.
I'm a different user but i agree they are great. they are easy to take care of and are great for first pets. They are even great as a millionth pet! I go to this little island i only know of and i call it crab island because it has tons of both land and sea crabs! I play with them and give them food and water. I do this because sometimes it's really hard for them to find food so i can help them an bring them plenty of food water and toys. i think they are really happy most of the time. I always let them out to run around and explore. I just think they are such interesting and fum little creatures. And I love them, and agree that they are in fact, great pets and companions.
It depends on what you think is best. Hermit crabs are cool, small, pets that don't need a lot of attention. They mostly stay inside of their shell all day (hermit crabs are nocturnal) and come out and move around at night. hermit crabs only need a sponge, a little food, and maybe some extra shells to change into, and they are good to go! Hermit Crabs are fun to watch, play with, and easy to take care of. But on the bad side, hermit crabs don't last long. usually a few months is all a hermit crab will last. and you have to think about them with their claws and all. hermit crabs could pinch and not let go for a long time. and they usually only come out at night. so when you really want to see a hermit crab crawl around like crazy, you might have to wait until 10:00pm. and if you have other pets, like a cat, you might have to keep them away from the crabs. if you have a cat and they are like mine, you might have to keep them away at all times from the crabs because if they tried to get the hermit crab, it could pinch your other pet and not let go, or your pet could kill the crab. It all depends on what you think is best! :) hope this helps! :)
I think it is worth while to have pet hermit crabs because you can show that you have resposibility by feeding them every other day. They are not too active but you can watch them when you want. I've had mine for almost 3 years!

heck yeah its totally worth it!! they are such cool pets!
It depends how much you are willing to spend and how much time you have, etc. They can cost about 50-150$ total including all the supplies you need. It also takes a bit of time to clean out the cage every few months and change their food/water every day.
Yes.
Hermit crabs make great pets. They aren't like cats or dogs, but hermit crab make great acquaintances. You can make obstacle courses for them to play on and watch them 'party' in their habitat, otherwise known as a 'crabitat'
Hermit crabs do require more attention than a cat or dog, or even a bird. They need to be kept clean, can be stressed out easily, and need to have the proper climate and food. And they have to be handled more carefully. So it's all up to you, but over all, hermit crabs make amazing pets.
I asked at pets at home, and he said the red clawed crabs can only be on there own, apart from some fish.
Show Love and CARE for your hermit crab.
Most likely a land hermit crab, but you should always check with the person that sold it to you.
Don't let that person handle your hermit crab.
You should let it mold. It is part of life for a Hermit crab.

What is a Hermit Crab's predator?
The hermit crab was given their names because they live in a shell, alone. But hermit crabs are the very sosial and you should buy at least 3 hermit crabs.
Hermit crabs do not bite, they pinch. When a hermit crab pinches you that means that they are intimidated and stressed out, and possibly hungry. In your crabitat there should always be fresh food available to your hermit crab so it does not starve. It's term 'hermit' is not because it doesn't like other hermit crabs. The hermit crab actually loves being with other hermits. It is called hermit crab because it is only one hermit crab in the shell. It's term 'hermit' is not because it doesn't like other hermit crabs. If it is a hermit crab, then it is like any other hermit crab, so just take care of it as you would to a regular hermit crab :)
