They can survive long car rides. Just make sure that the hermit crabs have enough water so that they are not uncomfortable The movement can be stressful so make sure the hermit crabs to not get jostled around. Put the travel tank on the floor in the back seat so that it will not slide around. It is also important that the car does not get too hot or too cold. If you are getting out of your vehicle take the hermit crabs with you. Cars can act as an oven if they are in the sun. About 86 degrees Fahrenheit is preferable to hermit crabs.

Give them a wide variety of vegetables and fruits. Contrary to popular belief, your crab can eat large pieces. Give them nuts, peanut butter (natural only, no added salts or sugars) and flower petals from the garden (only if no pesticides have been used). Also, hermit crabs will not eat anything they have smelled/eaten in the past 14 hours, up to two weeks, so change their food often. All fresh foods should be left no longer than 24 hours to prevent mold growth in the tank.
