Basically the difference is the "holes" on the female are closer together than those on a male. The Herpes simplex virus is not a fatal disease. The Herpes Simplex 1, or fever blister, can be transferred from one person to another by a simple kiss. The Simplex 2 virus, or genital herpes, can be transmitted by unprotected sexual contact with someone who has the virus when it is in its contageous form. No, cytomegalovirus is a separate virus from Varicella Zoster virus (the one that causes chickenpox) and herpes simplex virus (which causes genital herpes and cold sores and related illnesses). It is possible to have all three at the same time, but they are separate viruses and if you have herpes or have had the chickenpox, it does not mean that you are CMV positive.

Why are there no scars left after a cold sore?
A cold sore is caused by the herpes simplex virus and will generally clear up in time. I did have one student in my classroom who kept picking at a cold sore and now has a scar in that area.
What does it mean if on a pathology report it has reactive next to herpes simplex tot the doctor said nothing was wrong but you just noticed reactive next to it and highlighted?
I would that if you are the patient in the pathology report that you ask the doctor if you should be concerned by this. It could be a simple mistake, the person who compiled the report might have meant to mark the box above or below. If you did ask about it and the doctor replied nothing then you can do one of two things. take the doctors word for it or get a second test done just for the herpes simplex.
