It is certainly possible, but difficult. Retribution paladins have a lot of burst damage and survival cooldowns, and holy paladins have a lot of burst healing and survival cooldowns. Neither would be able to run the other out of mana, and kiting would be useless. Retribution paladins would stun the holy paladin as they are casting their heals, hoping to kill them before they will be able to heal themselves again. Holy paladins would keep themselves alive for a while, hoping to kill the retribution paladins with Consecrate.
Chances for the holy paladin would be rather slim.
While Divine Storm, Crusader Strike, and auto-attack benefit from armor penetration, it is not a stat that ret paladins should be stacking tons of on their gear. Most of the paladins attacks are Holy damage. As such, it ignores armor. It has been said on various forums and chat rooms that it is better to get strength with a little bit of intellect mixed in for good measure.
Depends on the spec of the paladin. Protection paladins are better with 1h/shield. Ret paladins are better with 2h weapons. Holy paladins are better with 1h/shield too, but just for the stats that are on the weapon (ie. Int).
Depends what your talent spec is. For Retribution, it is almost definitely [Shadowmourne], but it is incredibly hard to get. For Protection specced Paladins, it would be [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker] and a decent shield. But for Holy Paladins, it would be [Val'anyr, Hammer of the Ancient Kings] and a healing shield.(FYI all those weapons are legendary and linked below in the related links section)

There are currently three different talent trees. Those are Holy, Protection and Retribution. Holy is mostly for healing, Protection for tanking and Retribution for damage-dealing. Allso, if we're talking about PVP the choices are Holy or Retribution.
Holy paladins are healers (that can do a little dps) and Protection paladins are tanks (meant to soak up damage and not do a lot of dps). Which one you should choose is up to you and what you want to do with the paladin.
It does not seem that paladins have a normal rotation. Basically, you use all your cool-downs at the beginning of the fight and wing it from there, hitting whatever cooldown comes up first.

The best macros for Retribution Paladins often include those for efficiently managing key abilities and cooldowns. A popular macro combines Avenging Wrath with Divine Storm to ensure you maximize damage output during your burst phases. Another useful macro is for targeting and casting Judgment on your focus target, allowing for swift damage while maintaining pressure on your main target. Additionally, a combined macro for Blessing of Freedom and Cleanse can help handle crowd control and debuffs effectively.
