yes, especially with English riding it is very challenging to ride correctly& get your horse to go or control the horse. so English riding works out your calves, arms& sometimes even abs. also western riding can be a workout too but it targets more of your upper thighs and sometimes calves.
Any style of riding is much more challenging than most people think& the horse does NOT do all the work for you. there are many ponies& horses that are easy to ride but most horses are not very easy to ride& you have to use your muscles to properly control the horse& make it do the proper style of riding you are trying to achieve.
& BTW: if you've ever seen SHOW JUMPING, where the horses jump 4 ft+ courses, that is NOT easy. that is the hardest type of riding which takes many years of practice to be able to do properly and safely. ( well as safe as jumping 4ft on a horse can be)

They can keep you company. They can also help provide you with physical therapy and exercise. Horses can also be important in that they can provide you with income through breeding and riding lessons.
In a way, yes. Horse riding is a sport, and it is hard work. Especially if you ride without stirrups! Riding a horse can provide excellent and enjoyable exercise!
Yes, horses are a great exercise, as they give you a good leg workout. As for the companionship, they are normally so sweet they stick with you through a lot. These are the primary reasons people own horses and ponies. Riding and caring for a pony or horse is an excellent way to get exercise, and you and your horse can become very attached to one another.Of course. Horses make excellent companions if you treat them well. They can easily identify between people and are very intelligent. All horses are different, and some are more likeable than others. They can be very good for exercise if you ride them regularly. But the relationship work both ways: keeping them healthy helps you keep healthy. And being a good friend to them will help them be a good friend to you.
Usually horses don't show people exercise, people exercise their horse. But they can make great companions for their people. Nothing is better than just 'hanging' with your horse. They smell so good and they are just great to be with. One of my favorite times is being in the barn on a rainy day just grooming and chatting with my horses. (I always talk to my horses) And if you are kind to them and of course feed them they will always be glad to see you.
you burn like, 10 calories a minute at a gallop, and less at each lower gait while riding, so yeah, id call that exercise.
Yes, horses can live in meadows. Meadows provide them with space to graze, exercise, and interact with other horses. It is important that meadows offer access to clean water, shelter, and protection from predators.
