Certainly. Of course, it depends on the animal, but if you get a good horse you will definitely get both. People who say horseback riding is not a sport or not excersise have obviously never ridden a horse, as riding takes as much skill as mastering the piano, and is as excersising as Basketball. As for companionship, (which is what I'm guessing you meant), if you treat it right a horse is every bit as sensitive to your feelings and as loyal as a dog.
