What is visible light and what portion can humans detect?

Visible light waves are the electromagnetic waves which are detected by the human eye. They make up only a small part of the electromagnetic spectrum. So, visible light is any light in which the human eye can detect.

How much of the electromagnetic spectrum can your eye detect as light?

visible light

Why cant humans detect infrared light?

They can. While human eyes can not "see" infrared light, humans can detect this light as "heat" on the surface of the skin.

What are the detectors of visible light waves?

The eye and photosensitive paper both detect visible light.

Why did human eyes evolve to detect visible light?

Because the people whose eyes could not detect visible light didn't surviveto have children. They were completely outclassed, outhunted, and outfoughtby the people whose eyes could detect it.

What two parts of the electromagnetic spectrum can a rattlesnake detect?

They can detect both visible light and infrared radiation.

Are microwaves visible to humans?

No, microwaves aren't visible to humans. Microwaves are electromagnetic energy, and the only electromagnetic energy humans can see is that of visible light.

Why do you call the visible light part of the EMS visible light?

Because it's comprised of the band of wavelengths that the human eye can detect, that is, wavelengths that are 'visible' to human beings.

Why can wavelengths of light be seen by humans?

Our eyes can detect them.

The range of electromagnetic waves that human eyes can detect?

visible light spectrum

What is the light called that the retina can detect?

"visible light." it has a shorter wavelength than other light types. "visible light." it has a shorter wavelength than other light types.

What is the light you can detect with your eyes?

Visible light - electromagnetic waves in the frequency range 430 to 770 teraHz.
