You should NEVER self prescribe any medications or human drugs and not even Mucinex to your pets. Phone the vets and they will give you more information on what your dog can have. Fish oil tablets are great for your dog, etc.

If a dog eats a small amount of Mucinex it should be fine. There could be vomit or upset stomach. Some people treat their dogs with human medication and have no side affect. If a large amount was ate, watch the dog for abnormal behavior. Seek medical attention if the dog begins to act abnormal.

Who manufactures mucinex?

The expectorant known as Mucinex is not a product name itself. It is a drug and the term "Mucinex" is used in expectorant products. Some of the products include Mucinex DM, Mucinex Kids Cough Expectorant, Maximum Strength Mucinex and many others.

Can you give your dog mucinex dm?

Regular Mucinex and Mucinex DM both contain Guaifenesin as the main ingredient. Guaifenesin is a safe ingredient for dogs for upper respiratory problems. If your dog has frequent respiratory problems, you shouldn't use an over the counter medication like Mucinex. If the problem is chronic, your dog needs to be examined by a vet. Frequent problems with cough and phlegm can be a sign that your dog has heart problems.I believe the above to be sound advice, but I'm a 30+ year trainer, not a Vet. I would also emphasize, that if the condition is persistent, please take your pet to the Vet. Especially, a dry persistent cough, may indicate heart worms (fatal if left untreated). It may also reflect allergies. Your Vet can sort it out. ASK and persist until you do understand, and inquire about alternative treatments. Inquire about those that work, not just what's the most popular or approved for dogs.

Does mucinex show up on a drug test?

Mucinex is legal. But the dextromethorphan in it can give a false positive for heroin. But then again, so can poppy seeds. Just means you should avoid bagels and cough syrup before getting tested.
