No. Australian pipe threads are metric and the US is not.
You need at least a 3 in. pipe -- shower is 2 in. pipe
I am assuming you are talking about the curved pipe coming out of the wall leading to your shower head. In order to change it, simply unscrew it counter-clockwise using a pipe wrench. To install the new one, make sure you use pipe sealing compound and wrap the jaws of the pipe wrench with tape to prevent the finish from marring.
This question is vague as it doesn't state where exactly between the main and shower head it has broken. However, worse case scenario, the wall will have to be excavated a little to allow for the pipe to be replaced, using the required fittings to go with it.
Shower pipe is gray
Yes, the shower neck is threaded into a brass fitting nailed to a wall stud.
When you pull the stem up, it diverts the water from the tub spout to the shower head. Somewhere between the valve connection and shower head arm, you have a leak. The easiest part to check would be the arm that comes out of the wall that you screw the shower head on to. It is normally screwed in to a "shower Ell" and that connection and or pipe is easy to crack if someone pulls on the shower head. Pull the escutcheon plate towards the shower head and try to see into the hole and look for water at the connection. It would only leak when you are using the shower. If it is another connection or the riser pipe itself, you'll have to access it through the wall, hopefully from a room on the opposite side of the wall. Good Luck
1. Determine what type of shower head 2. Turn off any water 3. Remove the old shower head 4. Clean any existing debris or material from the threaded water pipe.5. Wrap any commercial plumber's tape around the threaded fitting for a watertight seal. 6.Attach the new shower head by rotating
The tools that are needed to install a bathroom shower are measuring tape, spanners, tile drill, dust sheets, pencil, and pipe cutters. It is best to engage a professional shower fitter to fit one's bathroom shower, instead of DIY project.
PVC pipe extension, that's what we did
Take the shower head off the pipe coming out of the wall and look in it. There will probably be a disk in it with about a 1/8 inch hole in the middle. That's the flow restritor. It should pop out or some screw out.
You Can but typically the pipe for the shower head that is coming out of the wall is just a short piece of pipe that you should be able to remove easily enough by unscrewing it. Then you can just replace that piece with a new one. == Answer== Do the same as above but make sure your shower arm is not floppy, if it is you could tear up the riser coming to the arm. Be very carefull.
The diameter of the size of pipes that lead to most conventional domestic shower heads range from around 40mm-170mm.This all depends on which purpose you intend to use your shower for, whether it be a serious showerer or just for a casual sprinkle. If you intend to use your shower for pleasure it is recommended that you invest in steel re-inforced 180mm pipe.
