Wisconsin doesn't issue handgun carry permits, if that's what you mean. As long as you aren't a felon, you can have a gun in your home, but you can't legally carry it in public. If you use a gun to defend yourself, whether you will have a problem depends on local laws and how the District Attorney feels, and whether he or she tends to prosecute even in self defense situations.
