You must be referring to MRSA. Yes it can be treated, but there are new strain with more resistant popping up as people use more antibiotics needlessly for viral infections. Depending on where the infections, you may need IV medications. Often, you may need to be on more than one antibiotics to fight this infection.
People also tend to stop taking antibiotics once they start feeling better 'saving' the medications for later. This is a bad idea. Some of the bacteria is still in your body even though you feel better. This allow the remaining bacteria to adapt and sometime become resistant to the antibiotic.
So, do not ask your doctor for antibiotic if you have a cold. Most people who thought they have sinus infection actually don't. Most 'pink eye' do not need antibiotic treatments. You should trust your own immune system more and let it does its things.
