Both drugs act as depressants in the central nervous system, and can cause dangerous side effects such as fatal respiratory depression if taken in high dose combinations. If you are talking low dosages of both medications then it shouldn't be an issue, but if you are on a high dosage of either medication (100mg or more of nucynta or 2mg or more of Ativan) it could be an issue. Remember to never go above your prescribed dosage.

You should always contact your pharmacist or provider if you have any concerns about your medications. If you are receiving medication from multiple doctors be sure to keep them both updated on any medication changes done by the other. Your pharmacist is your best friend in medicine and may know more about the medications you are on than your doctor does, so accept medication counselling for any changes in medication, including dosages.

If you do experience an issue with the combination you can always contact 1-800-222-1222 toll free for a medical evaluation of your situation and how to handle it.

yes, if it's necessary and Dr. approved, depending on other medications taken at the same time. However, do not drink alcohol or drive. Take caution while taking these medications in conjunction with each other, they can cause short term block in memory such as in hypnosis.
