Parakeets don't do either of these things. Parrots (and probably all flying birds) defecate (make droppings) that are made up of faeces, urates and urine. The faeces are the most solid part of the droppings, the urine is the clear substance, and the urates are the cloudy or yellowish-green part of the droppings. Urates reflect the type of food the bird has been eatig. In one article I read, it said that if a parrot eats beets, the net day its droppings will show up strongly red.

I would have it tame first so you can get it back when you want. But you would have to clip the wings to tame it (well it will be a lot easier) then when its tame you can make make sure of the following:

no fumes(it could be deadly)

close toilet lids or open water (they could drown)

no mirrors (they can fly into it and hurt themselves, the same goes with windows)

Make sure nobody enters your house (could fly away)

close all windows (could escape)

you could also teach him to come on command so if hes out of reach you are able to get him :)

Your parakeet can't fly because it might have it's wings clipped. Do the wings look a little short or seem to end abruptly? If so, this could be the problem.

Parakeets like to fly in a big amount of space, like in a bedroom or a Living room. Make sure all windows are shut because if your bird flys out a window he/she is gone.
