People cannot legally get a free Windows 8 upgrade.
Windows 8 is not free since the upgrade is for new computers. If you want to upgrade you will need to pay the full price.

You do not have to upgrade to Windows 8 at all, but some people perfer to be updated with the latest softwares.
No you have to buy it installed into the computer unlike windows which you can upgrade with a disc (I did when windows 8 came out).
There is a trial which is free, but the actual version will cost you. However, it is a lot cheaper than Windows 7, and is even cheaper is you upgrade from Windows 7.

The short answer is - you can't ! Every copy of Windows software must be paid for, whether that's buying an upgrade from the version you're already using - or a complete install disk. There are no legal free downloads of Windows software !
Unfortuantely, Windows 8 will not release a preview upgrade to Windows 8 Pro. However, a person can probably download a demo copy of the operating system or simply look at the specs for the software to see if it's worth upgrading.
The newest version is Windows 10 to which are allowed to upgrade free of charge all the users of Windows 8.1.
You can have an upgrade from microsoft or buy windows 8.1 and upgrade the system from there (be sure to back up your important data) or you can just format the whole windows partition and install Windows 8.1
There is not a way to upgrade Windows 8 release preview to Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation. You will need to install Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation in order to use it.
