Type your answer here..ihave swam many times in both the red and assiboine rivers. our favorite spot on the assiboine was between a trestle bridge and the junction. our favorite spot on the red river was a navy reserve pier near the foot of arctic street (named for arctic ice company).we would cross some railway tracks and there was the dock. i was just over ten years old (1944 when i swam across the red river. the current took me a bit past the Marion street bridge. i did not attempt to swim back since i would have had to walk over two miles south (approximately where the st vital swimming club was) to allow for the current to put me back to where i began. and so i walked across the bridge bare foot and wearing only my swim suit back to the navy docks. i think it must have taken me a few hours to make the trip. my one and only swim of the notorious red river.
