You can have nearly any piercing (save for maybe the cervix) done while you are pregnant so long as you feel fine with the procedure. Standard care should be take as infection is always a possibility.
No professional body piercing studio will provide you with a piercing when you are pregnant. The chances of a secondary infection due to the piercing causing harm to the baby is a reason why body piercing studios will not provide piercing to pregnant women.
It isn't the piercing that you should worry about. It's the possible contraction of diseases or infection from getting a piercing. If you already have a piercing, just keep cleaning it and be super careful to not get infections. Most older piercings should be fine but get a longer flexible bar for navel piercings.
Actually no self respecting professional body piercer would ever pierce a pregnant woman. Several reasons. It is highly unsafe because you are subjecting the body to trauma and allowing an access for secondary infection to invade the body. You are taxing the imune system needlessly, it's already busy trying to protect the mother and fetus, it has enough to do let alone heal a piercing. Many Provincial, State and Municiple health units would go nuts if they heard about a piercing studio doing something that stupid knowingly. Ultimately it comes down to the piercer and the facility, as I mentioned before, no self respecting professional body piercer would open themselves up to the liability of piercing a woman who is pregnant. Now I am not saying it can't be done but clearly the risks out weight the selfish benefits of a piercing that can wait until the baby is born. Having said that, you would be hard pressed to find a professional who will be stupid enough to do something like that. If you do find one they are just that, stupid and by no means a professional body piercer. Hope that helps you out.
Professional body piercers will not pierce a pregnant woman, piercing can load down the bodies immune system and the risk is not worth it. Just wait till junior is born, then get your piercing done.
