Eating ANYTHING expired is unsafe.
my stomach says 'yes!'
The oils in nuts will make any of them go bad or rancid at some point. They are not bad in the sense they will make you sick just taste bad.
actually today I just made cookies for my family and afterward everyone felt sick to their stomach and turns out the shortening I used was totally rancid it makes the cookie dough look all dark and smells bad. The rancid food....hmmm.....i only had one cookie and I feel fine but my family on the other hand had three or four and they feel a little sick to their stomach but I think its just you can eat rancid food depending on what it is that's gone rancid. But I think if you eat too much then its not too safe.
If it was safe to eat when frozen and has not turned rancid or otherwise become inedible, it shouldn't make you sick if you choose to eat it.
Yes. Bacteria such as salmonella have been known to appear in certain nuts especially if they are bad.
Yes, anything you eat that is rotten you can indeed possibly get sick from it.
Because it makes a wonderful family snack. Make sure you past it because you will get sick if you eat a pumpkin seed raw!
Forget the date, especially if you do not know how they were stored in the grocery store. (Were the nuts refrigerated?) Open the bag and smell the walnuts. If they smell fresh and slightly nutty, they are fine to eat. If you make a sour face after smelling them, throw them out! Rancid oil has a very distinctive smell, and eating rancid nuts can make you sick.
If the pecans have become rancid or moldy, yes - eating them could make you ill. It depends if the owner washes them regularly, also if they are moldy, i suggest you see a doctor.
Nuts don't go stale per se, but they can turn rancid. Most tree nuts, as well as peanuts, have a high fat content. It's the lipids in nuts that "turn" (go bad). Rancid nuts have a soapy, bitter taste.
No. There should be no reason for illness unless it had become contaminated or had turned very rancid.
