Do steep hills erode faster than gentle hills?

Steep Hill Erodes Faster. The Water Picks Up Speed And More Energy To Wear Away The Earth. Generally, hills will be steep because they are made of resistant rock; whereas gentle hills will have that shape because they are made of rock that is easily eroded. Hence steep hills will not necessarily erode faster than gentle ones. However, if a hill is steep because it has recently been formed by tectonic activity, and it comprises soft rock, it will erode faster than a more gentle hill of the same material.

How was Durdle Door formed?

How did the waves and the rock type have anything to do with the formation of lulworth cove?

Coves formed where rock runs in bands horizontal to the direction of the waves. There is a band of resistant rock closest to the sea and a band of less resistant rock inland. The wave seeks out faults in the hard rock and erodes through to the soft rock behind. Then the Wave eroded the softer rock faster and this leaves a circular cove with a narrow entrance where the sea enters.
