As someone who followed this trial closely, I found a strong correlation between this trial and the trial of Lizzie Bordon. Not just because the defendants were found not guilty, but for the reason for the verdicts. The jury apparently viewed Lizzie as a proper young lady, with peculiarities, but proper, who had no capacity for such a crime; the O.J. jury seemed to believe that a man of his stature would never commit such a crime no matter what miscellaneous evidence the racist authorities dragged into court. In both cases, evidence carried very little weight and social beliefs carried the verdict. I was so struck by this, I wrote a second verse to the Lizzie Bordon rhyme. I wrote it, so feel free to use it:
