I believe that a lack of food can cause seizures. When my daughter gets extremely hungry, she gets a headache then has a seizure. At first, we thought she was having these episodes due to her sugar levels. After much testing, she has been diagnosed with epilepsy. For the past three years, she has kept a snack readily available and eats about every two hours. Even if she is not hungry, due to her med side effects, she will have a seizure if she does not eat often. Also, different foods trigger seizures. Soy, gluten, Aspartame, and caffeine can trigger seizures. Recently, we saw a naturalpathic doctor and he has her taking lots of raw foods and juices (carrot, apple, tomato, romaine lettuce, red pepper, and beet. She has cut down on raw fats only to have more seizures! When her fats get low, the seizures increase. She is taking 800 mg. of Tegretol XR daily, but has had 5 seizures the last week. While staying on the raw foods and juices for 4 weeks, she did not have any seizures so there is definitely something to the foods we eat. STRESS causes more seizures than anything else. If anyone has any suggestions, please comment. We are starting yoga tomorrow to see if it helps. She is 19 years old now and severely depressed because the seizures are not under control. Please help if you have an answer for me!
