Ephedrine, although chemically very similar to the amphetamines, should not show up on a drug screen as amphetamine. Although, ephedrine can be tested for on a drug screen separately (usually specifically requested).

∙ 13y agoNo. Drug tests work by testing for certain chemicals that are found in drugs. The chemical "Methamphetamine" has nothing to do with chemical "Ephedrine" so will not show up on a drug test.

When consumed with caffeine and aspirin they can show up in drug test for upto a day

In my experience you can fail for amphetamines after taking sudafed. Sudafed contains pseudo-ephedrine, an ingredient in the manufacture of meth-amphetamine. You need at least 72 ours to get pseudo-ephedrine out of your system.

it is impossible to fail for meth unless you are using the drug. Even if a few crystals were transfered in saliva it would still not be enough to show up. So there are one of two reasons. 1.) you are using meth. 2.) you are taking cold medicine or some other psyeudoephedrine/ephedrine containing medication. There are medications that have this chemical, but it does not make you high as meth does. Ephedrine is synthesized into meth, therefore it is the substance a drug test will test for.
