The side effects of prednisone include:
1) Unpredictable effect (stress, well-being, anxiety, depression, restlessness, etc.) on mood. People who are suffering from mental illness or those who are having weak mental health are at highest risk of experiencing mood swings.
2) Dizziness, vomiting and insomnia
3) Acne
4) Steroid also causes chemical imbalance in our body and changes sugar level in blood, along with change in other chemicals such as calcium, potassium, water, etc.
5) Increased hunger and weight gain
6) Weakened healing ability of body and increased susceptibility towards infections: steroids affect the healing mechanism, which leads to a slowdown in healing ability of the body.
7) Swollen breasts due to deposition of fat
8) High dosages of steroids (or even a smallest dose of steroid for those whose body/metabolism does not support steroid at all) may lead to problems related to menstrual cycles in women patients. They may experience irregularity in menstrual cycle occurrence or no menstrual cycle occurrence at all.
9) In many cases, people undergoing steroid related treatment complain about eye-related problems such as increased pressure of fluid within the eyeballs which is also known as intra-ocular fluid pressure, wearing of outer cover of the eye (the outer cover becomes thin and susceptible for various eye related infections) and some people complain about development of cataract in their eye, etc.
10) Steroid may also interfere with the other medicines that the patient is taking and cause serious trouble for him/her. For example, if a person is undergoing heart, brain or any vital organ related medication, then steroid can lead to a medical condition such as increased blood pressure. Some problems in the patient may increase due to the use of steroid and other medications at the same time. People undergoing treatment for inflammation may face stomach and digestive system related problems if they start taking steroids.
it made me have my period for a few hours and went away , it wasn't spotting though
You start taking them the first Sunday after you had your period I believe.
Stop taking your pills immediately and call your doctor.
can diet pils make you late on your period ?
Period can arrive anytime after the withdrawal bleed from 4 weeks to 8 weeks. Its different in every woman.
where you taking birth control pills? if so that's probably why
It makes it late.
I was often late on the pills, sometimes I didn't even get it until I had already started taking the active pills. Ask your doc.
Yes. The following link may be of interest to you: http://ibdcrohns.about.com/cs/prescriptiondrugs/p/medprednisone.htm
Not exactly.. your period can occur as late as the 4th sugar pill
The white pills are inactive hormones which is when you're off your period. And the green pills are active hormones and these you usually take when you are going through your period. But its still okay if you're not on you're period during the green pills cause the pills could make you a little bit late on you're period.
Take the inactive (sugar) pills, then start your next packet on time. Some pills, for some women will stop your period from ever coming, as long as you are taking the pill. You can use a HPT once your period is a week late, if it is negative it is safe to assume you are not pregnant and your periods have stopped from taking BCP. If you have any questions call you prescribing doctor or clinic.
When your body stops getting the hormones from the pill you could make you late. The pills trick you into being pregnant so when you stop taking them it confuses your body. Though if you are more than a week late I suggest taking a pregnancy test because you may be pregnant.
