The removal of colon is called a colectomy. The name will vary according to the site: Right hemicolectomy or Left hemicolectomy for removal of left or right side of colon, and Sigmoid colectomy for removal of sigmoid colon and Anterior resection for removal of colon and upper rectum and finally APR (Abdomino Perineal Resection) which is resection of lower part of colon and rectum
Not totally but parts of it can be removed. This procedure is normally carried out if disease (notably cancer of the colon) is diagnosed.

Colon
Corns are troublesome areas of dead skin that usually affect the toes or fingers. You can remove corns by paring the lesion but sometimes they grow back. The alternative is to have them surgically removed.
There are actually more than 6. I believe they would be the cecum, ascending colon, hepatic flexure, transverse colon, colic (or splenic) flexure, descending colon, and sigmoid colon.
The ascending colon runs vertically below the liver. The descending colon runs vertically below the stomach. The transverse colon runs horizontally between the ascending and descending colons and is attached to the bottom of the liver and stomach.
Colectomy means to cut out or remove the colon.
The rectal stump is the pouch left behind after the colon is diverted surgically to open at the abdominal wall ( a colostomy)
