Deep vein thrombosis and pressure sores
There is a condition caused deep vein thrombosis which can occur in bedridden patients. This condition is when a blood clot forms in the deep veins of one or both legs. Deep vein thrombosis is not only painful, it is also dangerous because the clot can break loose and travel to other parts of the body.
There is no specific prevention for renal vein thrombosis. Preventing dehydration reduces the risk that it will occur.
Renal vein thrombosis occurs in both infants and adults. Onset of the disorder can be rapid (acute) or gradual.
Cerebral thrombosis occurs when a blood clot, or thrombus, forms within the brain itself, blocking the flow of blood through the affected vessel.
Deep Vein Thrombosis can occur in either leg, with about an equal occurrence for right or left leg. DVT can also occur in the arms or upper body with a fairly even occurrence for right or left side. Please see related links.
If there is a clot in the leg, a DVT (deep vein thrombosis), when it breaks loose it could cause a pulmonary embolus, which is a medical emergency, and if severe enough could cause death.
When a cardio vascular event occurs there is either bleeding due to rupture of vessels or blockage due to thrombosis
It can occur anywhere in the brain. Where ever there is ischemic injury, necrosis and inflammation occur which cause death of neurons = "red neurons". It is usually seen within 12-48 hours after an ischemic event ie. thrombosis or embolism.
Because a clot in a deep vein can break off and travel through the blood stream to the lungs.
Fungal keratitis is a serious eye problem if it occurs. It is a type of corneal ulcer and can occur if someone has an accident involving their eye and gets plant material into it.
This can occur via a condition known as hermaphroditism.
