Unfortunately, the answer is "Yes, unless...". The "unless" is, if you have good eye protection. Welder's glasses, for example. And most planetariums and science stores have "eclipse glasses" which filter out about 99.5% of the Sun's light, which just about right.

∙ 13y agoNo a lunar eclipse can not blind you only a solar eclipse. in a lunar eclipse the moon goes behind the earth so no sunlight hits it and it is black, on a solar eclipse the moon, earth, and sun are lined up perfectly for a few mins and CAN blind you.

∙ 14y agoLooking at any bright light is difficult. The sun is very bright, so looking at it even briefly dazzles you. To properly see an eclipse, you will want to be looking at the sun for a long time. If you did that the sun would burn your eyes and potentially cause serious eye damage or blindness. NEVER RISK IT. That is why protection of your eyes is needed, or it is better to look at a projection of the eclipse rather than directly at it.
