I am looking around to replace the transmission on my 1995 Ford Windstar and the information that I received from several different mechanics is that the 1995 Windstar transmission is a "one year" transmission so you pretty much have to get a 1995 transmission for a 1995 windstar engine. I'm no mechanic and really have no idea but this is just what I've been told... someone out!

I have a 2000 Windstar and it does this at times but it is normally when I start it and go to quickly not letting it idle down. Also mine has 322,000 with original transmission and motor and it has done it for several years.

Call an auto wrecker/used parts dealer. They have computer programs that will quickly and easily tell what years are interchangable. And if there are any stipulations. Its the easiest way by far.
