' Was' is a verb. If it is located in a sentence, don't capitalize it unless it starts the sentence. If it in the First or Last word of a movie, book, etc., you would capitalize it. But sometimes it is the middle word of a title like ' Life was my Victory ' so you wouldn't capitalize it. Please add more to what I have just said if you want to but don't delete my answer xD.

In title case, verbs always take an initial capital, regardless of their length and their position in the sentence. Therefore 'was' is always capitalised in title case: Life Was My Victory. The previous contributor seems to have assumed that because 'was' is a short verb, it is subject to the same considerations as (for example) conjunctions, but that is not so.
