I suppose this would depend on the stable. If it's on a volunteer basis, depending on how old you are they can probably find work for just about anybody. Be aware though that until they know they can trust you around horses it's more likely to be mucking out and scrubbing water buckets than tacking up or cooling out. Talk to the stable manager! The only way you'll get anywhere is by asking, and even if they have to say no, they will be glad you asked for sure! I have heard of children and teens exchanging several hours a week of volunteer work as grooms for free riding lessons.

Well I suppose when I have been riding there have been 12 year old girls grooming horses and leading children in there riding lessons.

Probably not unless their family owns the stable or the horses that they are working with. Working with large animals is considered dangerous and most state laws would expect you to be at least 16 to work in such areas. You have to be 14 to get a work permit in most states.

well it depends which stables you go to....some places take 13 year olds i started working at stables when i was 13 so its not bad x
