No, however if you use a one handed or main handed weapon they can hold an off hand object (skull, stick, book) as well that deals no damage but has stats.
Besides, melee damage by a Warlock is nothing - only when you are out of mana AND very low on health but the mob is down to 1% should a 'lock even think about melee fighting. 'Locks are built for pure spell damage; now the pets, that's a different story.

There are some items which require your character to use both hands. These are only certain ones though. You cannot dual wield with any weapon. Only specific ones.
