The scriptures tell us Gods will. If He has a purpose for you then it may come in the form of a revelation to your mind, or given to you personally by a heavenly messenger. God communicated His will to the Prophets. The last Prophet of God is Muhammad. He was foretold by Moses, Isaiah, Haggai, David and even by Jesus. The Gospel of John, 14 - 20 mentions the 'comforter'. The Church incorrectly says the comforter is the Holy Spirit. But Jesus was clearly talking about a person - a human - who would "Not speak from himself, but whtsoever he hears from the Father, that shall he speak". In the original language of the written gospel, Which is Greek, the word used is 'Parakletos'. If, in actuality, the correct word is 'Piracletos' - with one letter difference - then Jesus spoke of a man who's name in Aramaic would be Hamda. In Arabis the name is Ahmad. The Qur'an says that when Jesus spoke of Muhammad, he called him "Ahmad" - which is the shortened version of "Muhammad".
