For some fish, this is a way of escaping predators, for others, such as an upside-down catfish, it allows them to find food (primarily algae) on floating wood.

Wood ducks are just another breed of ducks. They are usually wild. Wood ducks (in Australia and I presume in other countries too) still love the water. Absolutely....depending on where you are. In the midwest...ie. south dakota and minnesota wood ducks are low on the point scale for ducks because of high populations.
