Gestation periods for different breeds of dogs only vary slightly. The average gestation period for dogs is nine to ten weeks.
Smaller is better for dogs, with larger breeds rarely averaging beyond ten years. The small breeds have an average of 15 years.
The American Kennel Club recognizes seven groups of dogs: Working, Herding, Sporting, Non-Sporting, Terrier, Toy and Hound. Within these seven groups there are many breeds. There are also many breeds of dogs that have been around for decades (even centuries) that are not recognized by the American Kennel Club.

First are the Border Collies, Poodles, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Dobermans, Shetland Sheepdogs, Labradors, Papillions, Rottweilers and Australian Cattle Dogs (also known as Blue Heelers) are recognized as some of the most intelligent pure breeds. I LOVE ALL THE DOGS ABOVE <3 However, the most intelligent dogs I've met personally were all rescued mixed breeds (mutts).
