How to program a DVD player with a Toshiba Television
Yes, a universal remote will work with all of those.
put tv arial on DVD. Use DVD remote to change source on DVD from avi1 to tv channel then use DVD remote for tv.
The Hannspree 10-Inch MLB White Sox LCD Television comes with a remote control, it does not have a dvd player built in but it has an A/V input that will allow you to hook one up.
NO you can't It is possible to use the infrared port which most laptops have to control a TV or DVD. A Google search for "infrared tv remote" found quite a few sources for how-to. If indeed you are wanting to use the wireless NIC for an RF controlled device, then I would agree with the first answer: No.
Remote controls are designed to operate with specific devices. Normally, a television remote control will not have the buttons to operate a DVD player. However, some manufacturers have television remote controls with DVD controls built in and a player from the same manufacturer can be controlled by the same remote. In addition, there are several third party remote controls that can be programmed to operate a wide variety of devices allowing one control to operate several different pieces of equipment.
A media center remote can be used to control connected media devices. You can control your TV, Stereo, DVD Player, and some of the remotes can control features on your computer.

Codes are remote control specific. Use your remote control manual (or your cable company guide) to find the code for your brand tv. If there is no code for your tv alot of times another manufacturer's code will work. You just have to be patient and try all the codes. For example, my COBY TFD1973 TV/DVD combo code is 248 the same as Audiovox. For remote control guides check out universalremote.com Look on your remote control there should be a model number such as UR5U-8720L-AB, find your remote control in the lists using this number.
The same way you'd use a TV remote on a computer.
YOu must program it as a Toshiba DVD using the AUX button on remote control and the codes 0695 (which worked for me) or 0503, or 1045.Then seperately set up the volume by changing the volume control lock according to directions. FYI... Comcast could not help at all!______________________________________________________That was a helpful answer, thanks.Additionally, based on my own experience a couple of minutes ago, I was able to program the Comcast remote for the Toshiba TV/DVD combo (Tosh model MD19N1, fyi) by using the AUX button & treating the TV/DVD combo as a DVD, as the answer above suggested. But the code that worked for me was the Toshiba DVD code listed in the Comcast remote pamphlet (specifically, code #20695), rather than the codes stated above. But the answer, above, to use the AUX button & treat the TV/DVD combo as a DVD is what set me on the road to being able to program the remote. Also, the answer suggested above about programming the volume for the remote, by just following the Comcast remote instructions for "unlocking" the volume was exactly right. Also, fyi, none of this programming of the Comcast remote messed up TV/DVD operation by the original remote I have for the TV/DVD. I just didn't want to have to be juggling two remotes all the time. Thanks alot for that answer above. (11/5/10)
