The fuel pump is located in a unit inside the fuel tank. It is called a "fuel module" which contains the pump, sending unit, float etc allin one unit. The fuel has to be removed, the fuel tank dropped, and the entire module has to be replaced. I had mine replaced on a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 and it cost aboput $800.
