What is the difference between school of biology and department of biology?

Within a university there are departments, and within a department there are schools. If a university has a department of biology then that department will have full control over the curriculum for it's students and will only need approval from the university. If a university has a school of biology it will usually be under another department, such as department of arts and sciences. This means that the biology curriculum will be subject to the department of arts and sciences regulations. For instance the school of biology will suggest the biological and science requirements for its students but because it is under the department of arts and sciences the students will still have to take a foreign language. Despite a program being under a 'school' or 'department', there are typically no major differences in overall education between universities, loosely speaking.

What is the difference between the university master's degree and college master's degree?

The words "college" versus "university" can be confusing......especially in the US, where they can mean different things, depending on the state and/or the school(s) in question. It would be nice if things in the US were more like they are in the UK, when it comes to the difference between "college" and "university." In the UK, the university is the large, overall institution; and then each of its constituent parts are called colleges... like the University of London system. And in that (University of London) system, there is no difference: a masters degree is a masters degree.Gratefully, despite the less-clear difference between "college" and "university" in the US, a masters degree, regardless which kind of institution issues it, is the same, from either. A masters degree is a masters degree. Period. In pretty much all cases, a "masters" degree consists of from, typically, 32 to 48 graduate semester credit hours, beyond a 120 undergraduate-semester-credit-hour "bachelors" degree.Though the credits are calculated differently in the UK, it's still the same: first a bachelors degree, and then a masters degree; and it matters, not, whether it's from a school that calls itself a "college," or one that calls itself a "university." In either case, it's post-secondary, graduate-level higher-education that's immediatelly beyond the post-secondary undergraduate bachelors degree.

Georgetown's founding by John Carroll, America's first bishop, realized efforts to establish a Roman Catholic college in the province of Maryland that were repeatedly thwarted by religious persecution. The university expanded after the American Civil War under the leadership of Patrick Francis Healy, who came to be known as Georgetown's "second founder" despite having been born a slave. What is the ranking of amity university?

UGC Chief Warns About Amity Ranking Claim New Delhi: University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman, Prof. Sukhadeo Thorat, has warned students in general to take guard of Amity University advertisement in few Delhi papers claiming themselves to be one of the best in the country. Prof Thorat clarified that the onus of ranking the higher education bodies lies with National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore and no university can take upon itself the task of deciding its ranking. He added that the UGC would ask NAAC officials to instigate action against the University. Amity University in advertisements published in some Delhi newspapers, had claimed to be the one of the best universities in India. This despite the fact that the UGC (www.ugc.ac.in) has not listed it in the list of approved universities. Moreover, Association of Indian Universities (www.aiuweb.org), the authoritative association of UGC, which approves universities in the country has not yet approved membership to it. Prof Thorat asserted that National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Bangalore is the only statutory body entrusted with the right to rank the universities in the country. Thorat, who is also the Chairman of the General Council of the NAAC, intends to send a team in the month of May to assess the Amity University. Many of the officials of NAAC are dissatisfied with the publication of such advertisements by the Amity University. Chairman of the Executive Council of the NAAC, Prof Goverdhan Mehta, in his statement has condemned this act of Amity University. He cautioned the credulous students to be careful of such advertisements. Any other organization, apart from NAAC and NBA, performing this task is illegal. Amity University
