How do you avoid shells in Mario Kart wii?

OK, unlike Mario Kart Wii, Spiny Shells are a lot harder to Dodge. You have to wait until it stops circling and is coming down already, THEN use your Mushroom if you have one. So don't be a MUSHROOM WASTER!

mushroom. just when it is right about to hit you, use that mushroom to move out of its way. Don't do it too early or else it will hit you. Don't do it too late, or...it'll hurt you and you won't have your mushroom anymore. you have to do it just right. also, in MarioKart Wii, if you are in a cannon, etc. going really fast, you can avoid it like that, too. Also, if you are right in front of the 2nd person, you can back up(if not too late) and it'll hit the other person instead. you gotta stay away from the now-first-but-will-be-second-in-a-second person or else you will get hurt(not as badly as the person the Blue shell is coming for, tho) Hope this helped!

You can hold an item such as a shell or a banana behind your kart to avoid red shells.

you have to drive in front of something when the shell has impact if your hiding in front or a box itll hit the box and explode but it might take some time away from you
