I was raised a SDA, and I still eat meat. I eat the clean meats that are allowed to us in The Bible, but I do also enjoy tofu, especially the eggplant tofu from Panda Express yummy, and I try have vegggies with every meal. There is nothing that can stop you from being a SDA, there is also nothing that can stop you from finding the truth in the God's word, except of course yourself. So to answer your question, yes you can be a SDA and not embrace the diet. But in all honesty don't worry about joining a denom, just study God's word and find the truth's out for yourself :) God bless!
