The fact that your record was expunged will not make any difference. Your "true" criminal record is not shielded from government agencies that are doing background checks. If may come down to a decision by the department as to whether they want to hire you, or not.
Since the background investigators WILL have access to your juvenile record, it may depend on how serious your juvenile offenses were.
Generally No. Most departments don't even hire if you have a domestic battery/assault on your record.
No you can not be a cop.
Can you become a cop if you don't get tazzered but still go on the streets in a police car?????
You can offer to cop a plea to a lesser assault charge (misdemeanor) and see what the prosecutor says. If he accepts you would get less than a year in jail.
A city cop but you still have to go to school
No, that would be assault.
In Canada, if you are acquitted of the charge, you shouldn't have any problem becoming a cop. So if you have a good defense, you better fight the charge with a good lawyer.
That's a very tricky and vague question as asked. A cop can't assault anybody unless he has legal justification to do so.
Yes, as long as the charge that you were either convicted of, or plead out to was a misdemeanor, excluding the following misdemeanor charges: 1. Domestic Violence 2. Assault/Battery 3. Any combined drug arrests (misdemeanors) in the past 5 years that exceeds 3 or more times. Don't commit a felony, and you can be a cop.
It is an "assault" and therefore, unlawful.
There are books and manuals that tell you what it takes to become a cop,and also the various laws and procedures. But you still have to go to the police academy and pass, and be certified. You still have to go through the hiring process.
yes, because it is still a cop's car... he/she just isn't in it at the precise moment.... my car is still my car even if I'm not in it
yes and no
