Pure gold is quite soft and you can leave teeth marks in it if you bite it. This method was often used in the past to test gold coins. Silver is added to gold to make it harder and the more silver which is added then lower the carat that the gold is assigned. In Britain 24 carat gold is pure, 22 carat is very high grade, 18 carat has much more silver and less gold and 9 carat has the least amount of gold.
Bite it. Real gold is heavy but malleable, and when you bite it, it will leave an impression.
bite it and you will find out
no because the real gold will mark with a small bite, the fake gold wont
if it is real gold, you can bite into it and leave marks where your teeth bit down at because it is really soft. However, if it is fools gold, you might lose some teeth if you bite down on it
To check if it's gold
I'm not sure if you meant lick or bite but people bite gold because gold are amongst a few metals that are ductile at room temperature and able to dent if bitten. Licking on the other hand might be to taste the gold. Pure metallic gold is tasteless
You mostly see them bite the gold medals because real gold is very soft and malleable. If you bite it, it will leave teeth marks on the medal. It apparently just took with the silver and bronze, too.
gold is a soft medal so if you bite it, it will bend
Bite it really hard... if you lose teeth... it isn't solid gold.
To show fhat they are real medala
That is testing the hardness.
why not take the watch to a gold store and have them check it out for you Gold is usually soft so you could use the old bite method to check if its real.
