You must remove the tire from the wheel to replace the sensor. Extreme care must be used when installing a tire on a wheel with a tire pressure sensor. They are very easily damaged. If you suspect is is bad, I suggest you visit you local GM dealer. They have a tool that can scan the sensor and detect if it is good or bad without removing it.
