A few days before you color, you should wash and treat your hair with conditioner. In particular, make sure you condition the ends. This helps prepare your hair to accept the hair color.
I have very good news for all the people who suffer from the scalp irritation, my scalp is very sensitive, and I always suffered from irritation during hair coloring for many years.
But I found the perfect solution to my issue: the secret is to apply oils on the scalp before the hair color, the skin absorbs the oils and then it is saturated with oil which is a barrier from the harsh chemicals. The natural oil amount on my scalp apparently is not enough.
So this is what I do: I apply two time the oils mix which I make myself from 50% Castor oil and 50% Coconut oil, the coconut oil is solid at first, so I heat it a little by putting the glass jar in lukewarm water for short time, then the oils becomes liquid and then I add the Castor oil.
I apply gently generous amount of the mix on the all of the scalp, and let it stay for a few hours, or overnight even.
Then, before I color my hair, I apply once more the same mix on the whole scalp, and then WAIT FOR 20-30 MINUTES BEFORE coloring the hair letting the scalp drink more oil until it can no longer absorb. Then I apply the color with gentle and soft brush strokes, not to push or move the oil away from the scalp, and I do not feel any irritation. I use the 1on developer for sensitive scalp as well just to be on the safe side.
I can tell that the color cuts through the oil and cover the grey 100% with not any issue at all, in fact coloring became fun time for me, I read and rest and smiling. I wish I would know this trick many years ago, but no one told me about that, everybody say that the natural oils on the scalp should be the protector, but in my case and now I know that in many people's case, this is not enough protection, so we need to give the skin to "drink: oil until it cannot absorb anymore oil, then we are sure that the harsh chemicals will not be pulled in and absorbed by the skin which is causing the irritation, and we can win this for once and for all.
I guess that you can prepare your own mix of oils, I think it does not matter which oils you use as long as they are thick enough to create a stable barrier on the skin once it can no longer absorb the oils.
I make sure that I have enough oil on my scalp by touching the scalp with my finger tips, and seeing that the tips are wet with oil, then it's okay to color.
Another trick to cover very good the grey roots and sideburns: apply on these areas first just the color from the color tube, and then proceed to apply the color mix as usual. The concentrated Ammonia in the color will open the cuticles and enable them to get more color directly into them, works great.
I also apply every two three days pure Coconut oil on my scalp and hair and sleep with it over night, this heals the scalp from any known issues.
This is great for me. No more issues with sensitive scalp.
No!! If you recently relaxed or permed your hair you must wait to color it.
Yes, when washing your hair it will remove the hair color residue. To make your hair color last longer, use a shampoo and conditioner for colored hair.
If hair is colored with Temporary hair color, it will completely wash out with shampoo. If hair is colored with a Semi-Permanent color, the color will gradually fade with each shampoo, exposing the hair's natural color.

It depends whether your hair is long, short, thin, or thick. If you have long and thick hair, you've got a problem. If you wash your hair frequently then all the thick hairs will trap the water and it stays there.Try to keep it at once or twice a week. If you've got short and thick hair you can wash it thrice or twice a week, but remember to towel dry your hair for a few minutes and then dry it with a hair dryer. If you've got short and thin hair, You can wash it about 4 times a week. If it's long and thin hair, you might just have a chance of washing it everyday.
