In every kitchen there needs to be a choice whether to choose a gas cooktop or an electric one. While there are pros and cons to both, many professional chefs feel that gas cooktops have the clear advantage for all of the following reasons: Even Heating: With time electric coils can deteriorate and prevent even cooking, while gas is easily monitored and even throughout. No Power Needed: If the electricity goes out in your home, you can still cook meals thanks to a gas cooktop. Immediate Control: Instead of fiddling with heat adjustors, a gas cooktop can be instantly controlled, whether you want to increase or decrease the flame.
I suppose you're talking about a glass cooktop here. The glass cooktop is a thin dense material and basically acts as a heatsink, compared to the material the kitchen-top is made of (thick wood chip-board). This is why the cooktop will always be warm or even hot to the touch while the kitchentop is constantly cool. When installing a glass cooktop above the oven, you must always make sure that the space where the oven and cooktop are installed in the kitchen unit is adequately ventilated because when you use your oven the area where the oven is will warm up. Above it you have your glass cooktop, which is cold. This will cause condensation on the inside surface of the cooktop which could cause complications.
