you can not Chance the appearance of the character but you can select the skills he has just like the first but there are not as many skills to chose from this time around

You Cant import your character from Dragon age Origins. You Play as a character named Hawke Throughout the game. So there is no way to get the strength you had on your old character. If there is importing it will most likely effect Hawke's world through the choices the Warden made.

From the Dragon Age Origins main menu, there's an option called 'Other Campaigns' which is where you launch the Golems of Amgarrak and Witch Hunt adventures. When you select one, you'll be given the option to create a new character or import from another module. You'll be able to import your character from any previous save, including a character from Origins who was imported into Awakening.
